Ineos Grenadier- just got hands on with one

Adventurist
It was a static truck so no driving etc..

Random notes

Price at end of year…

And drivable ones them too…

Delivery late summer 2023..

5,000 reservations for the USA
Production capacity ~30-35k/year WW

Bigger than defender in most dimensions
Suspension is beefy, thick bars for everything..
Front suspension Not final on this one.. need revision, was not suited to off-road at all.

Shocks location behind the axle, beefy mount
.. I think the overall design works.. the interior materials I’m sure will be gooder than a defenders. The running gear is all as thick as our upgraded stuff and looks stout. Everything is tucked up high underneath.
Lockers, solid axles, the rear doors are killer.
Seats are comfortable, and it has elbow room.
I’m keeping my order in

Some other random observations…
1) the diff drain plug is on the side pointed at the pass wheel, and is in a thick housing.
2) front diff cover seems thick but needs a guard
3) all the track bars, panhard whatever is in front of the axle .. and thick and higher than the top of the axle tube..
4) front shocks are behind the springs and the lower mounts are thick, ramped and protect the lower shock pin
5) if you remove the seats it “may be “ a flat floor.. other wise no.
6) cargo area is about 6” shallower than I wanted, but still big, wide and tall.
7) batteries under rear seat (105ah not group 31), 2nd is an option and has room for it already and mounts.
8 ) axles have bolted covers - so easy upgrade
9) interior was roomy
10) no power seats (except heat)
11) there is a lot of room behind the grill before the ac condenser
12) transmission is tucked up there
13) bumper will be multi section steel not plastic
14) all plastics on this one are 3d printed and not final

My big negatives
1) new manufacturer…. it seems a good collection of bits… but how is the package together?
2) parts and service are going to a network of 30-40 dealers and independent Bosch service centers. Sounds good till you break something major (axles, cv, etc)
3) reliability… again good collection of parts.. but against something like a LC 200.. I’m not sure
4) it’s going to a very niche vehicle with maybe 5000/year coming to the US.
5) price for one with the switches, lockers, sliders, and gull wings may push it into the $100’s… which to me is out of range.
6) would rather have safari windows instead of the grab bags.. at least now..
7) tire were 265/70-17 - needs bigger at least 33” but rear door may interfere with larger

Does not compute! Max tongue weight is only 4% of max towing weight? Sounds like a scenario for the tail wagging the dog. For comparison, My 200 has similar max towing capacity with a max tongue weight three times that of the Grenadier, with similar GVWR and curb weight. o_O

Yeah. I'm not sure either. The phrase used in the brochure was "Maximum Trailer Nose Weight" and I assumed that was the same as max tongue weight. I couldn't see it meaning anything else.

I'll wait to see the US specs. Maybe it's a case of "When in Rome..." and the US will get US specification on tongue weight based on our best practices and laws.

Did a little googling and found something regarding a BMW X3. A forum post where someone wanted to swap from the EU spec. hitch (100kg, 220 lbs. max nose wt.) to a US spec hitch (450 lbs. tongue wt.) because they follow the US 10%-15% rule.

It's a typo. Max tongue weight is 350kg / 771.6 lbs.
